Communion of Spirits:  The Red Tailed Hawk

The Pueblos have shrines (or sacred areas) on certain mountain peaks. In creating this piece, I imagined a moment of communion of spirits and prayer.  This Red tailed Hawk has landed on a shrine high on a summit peak and there is an exchange of energy that strengthens and nourishes the spirit of the Hawk and the prayers of the pueblo people.

The shrine has petroglyph images of a raincloud, lightning, rainbow, corn, the sun, the moon, a star, a hunter, and the male/female energies. My goal was to evoke a feeling of sacredness and convey the inner connectedness of the spirit of the Hawk, the human experience and the ancient ones.
